What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese energy based healing practice that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety, and promotes a positive mental state through gentle touch. The word Reiki means "Universal life force energy."

A Holistic Approach
While it is not a cure for a disease or illness, it can assist the body in creating an environment to facilitate healing and is a great tool to use as a complement to traditional medicine. It is practiced in many hospitals and medical care settings. People use Reiki to relax and strengthen their well-being; reduce pain, anxiety, and fatigue; help manage symptoms; reduce side effects of medications; and support recovery after injuries or surgery.
A Personal Tool
Many times, after experiencing Reiki treatments, a client will wish to learn Reiki to work with this energy themselves by taking a Reiki I course. This can be beneficial as they may then use this stress reduction and relaxation tool anytime they wish when cost would prohibit it otherwise. You can train with a Reiki Master and start by going through a series of 'attunements' or initiations. These are procedures performed by the Reiki Master to 'attune' or connect you to the energy so you can receive it and pass it on to others. It can take up to 3 years of training to become a full Reiki Master and to teach.

A Spiritual Link
Reiki is an energy based healing practice where the Reiki practitioner works with the highest spiritual source - "Ki," Universal life-force energy. The journey toward becoming a Reiki Master/Teacher involves receiving a series of attunements that work with the different aspects of well-being - physical, mental & emotional, and spiritual & etheric. Each attunement allows the universal life-force energy to flow stronger and more freely through the practitioner activating an enhanced capacity for distance healing and intuitive/psychic awareness. Practicing Reiki allows for an open connection to Spirit and the experience of receiving Reiki can include a relaxing release of energy that some describe as similar to spiritual meditation.

Reiki is not a religion, but it is an energy-based lifelong practice.
